    NAPERVILLE INDEPENDENT FILM FESTIVAL
    by: Paul Braun

Just because he didn't have enough going on, Chicago's Jim Peterik decided to also get into the film business.

If you dig back in the archives from earlier this year, you'll read about the Peterik family's annual pilgrimage to the Saugatuck, Michigan Film Festival. Most folks just go and watch movies for several days, eat a lot of popcorn, some Milk Duds, a few Twizzlers and Sno-Caps, and then go home.

Jim got bitten by the film bug.

So, as part of the process of creating Lisa McClowry's new album, he decided to track the song "When It Comes From The Heart" from idea through final performance and release it as a short feature film.

To most people, the songwriting/recording process is a mystery. They know they buy the cd or download the song and enjoy it, but they really don't know what went on in the months and sometimes years leading up to that first listen.

"WICFTH" is a duet with Lisa and jazz great Nick Colionne. The song was co-written by McClowry and Peterik.

"You know, sometimes you just do things and you don't know why, except that you're just motivated. That describes the taping of 'When It Comes From The Heart' with Lisa and NIck Colionne," said Peterik.

"My videographer, Terry Becker, documented the whole process, from the first writing session with me and Lisa through the arranging session with Nick and Lisa, down through the recording process and through the first live performance at College of Lake County.

"We released the studio portion as part of Lisa's pubicity package, but now we're doing the longform video, which will be about an hour. As synchronicity has it, I got a call from the Naperville [Illinois] Independent Film Festival asking me to sing "Eye Of The Tiger" for opening and closing ceremonies, and they were willing to pay me.

"I said, 'Here's my payment. Feature our longform video.' They saw the trailer and said, 'Perfect.'

"So about midweek, around the 23rd of September, it's going to be on the big screen at one of the theatres in Naperville. Afterwards, there will be a Q&A session with Lisa and me and Nick," said Jim.

"If it does well there, there's a chance we can enter it into other film festivals. We're very excited about that, " exclaimed Peterik.

Another hat. Jim's going to need a much larger hat rack.
